As a business leader, here’s what you can do:

1. Encourage workplace friendships

Being able to laugh and cry with co-workers, creates trusting and supportive relationships, boost employee morale, and create a greater sense of belonging to a company.

You should create office spaces that encourage conversation during work hours, or social events outside of the office walls to bring people together and interact on a personal level.

2. Celebrate together

Take time to recognise employee accomplishments, by publicly praising and thanking them in front of the entire company.

You can create meaningful milestone events like employee anniversaries or long-service awards to allow everyone to reflect on their accomplishments and growth.

3. Make employee recognition emotional

When recognising employees’ efforts and success, tap into their emotions by reminding them of their value and contribution to the organisation.

Rouse their sentiments and positive affect to motivate employees and increase their loyalty.
